9/11

For the past six months or so I have been doing some odd jobs, like repossessing semi-trucks. On Thursday the 10th, I got a call and was asked to fly out to Sacramento, CA to drive a truck back to Richland, WA.
I arrived in Sacramento at 8:45am on 9/11. Around 9am, I was on my way through the security gate when I noticed a bunch of people standing around in a circle. Naturally, I asked what was going on...this guy shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know". I walked up to get a closer look. It was the National Guard folding a flag in memory of our fallen civilians, police, firefighters, troops and families that were effected on 9/11/01. It was very quiet and very moving for me. After it was done I felt like applauding, but for some unknown reason I refrained. Then everyone walked off and continued with their lives like nothing happened.
Later, I was thinking about this 5 minute event that took place and i realized how surreal it was and how it almost seemed like it was a inconvenience to everyone around me. Whether it was or wasn't, that is the vibe that I got, which bothers me.
Let's not EVER forget how many people lost a loved one and how that day has forever effected us and our country.
